Modem type Problem What to do
56 K modem
(dial up)
Unable to dial into the internet. Check to see if you have a regular dial tone.  A broken dial tone informing you that you have messages waiting can confuse the dial up modem.  Retrieve your messages and dial again.
You get disconnected from the internet while using it. Check to see if anyone has picked up the phone in another room. If so hang up phone and dial again.
If you have call waiting, check with you internet provider and make sure that the call waiting is suspended while you are on the internet.
